A tidier YouTube
Hide Shorts, recommendations, or comments, cap quality, and switch off autoplay-next.
Audio-only can cut the ongoing video transfer when you only want to listen. The cleaner controls support that focus by hiding distractions, limiting video quality when you do need the picture, and stopping the next video from starting by itself.
Hide only what you choose
Open the full options page and find Cleaner YouTube. Three independent switches let you:
- Hide Shorts, including Shorts shelves and cards.
- Hide recommendations, which removes the related-video rail but leaves comments alone.
- Hide comments, including the mobile entry point.
All three are off by default. Changes take effect right away, and turning a switch off restores that part of the page. Because YouTube occasionally changes its page structure, a hiding rule may temporarily stop matching. It should not block playback.
Cap video quality
Under Playback, set Maximum video quality from 144p to 1080p, or leave it on Automatic. The cap matters when normal video is playing, including when you turn audio-only off or a video falls back. It can help control data use, but YouTube still chooses among the qualities that are actually available.
Stop autoplay next
Turn on Disable autoplay next in the Playback section to switch YouTube’s own autoplay control off. When the current item ends, another should not start automatically. Turn it off to return autoplay control to YouTube.
